Martlets Fall to Williston

The skies cleared for a fantastic 3rds Field Hockey game. The girls had to adjust to a 7v7 contest, and after some initial trial and error, they had a strong showing on the field. Williston was first to strike after 3 minutes. Caroline Breslav '26 had her second appearance in goal and she made some outstanding saves. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were persistent and after numerous rebounds from the pads they were able to connect with the back of the cage with a little less than 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The score remained steady at 2-0 in favor of Williston as the girls showed progress with their spacing, passing, and communication. Early in the fourth quarter, Nyla Francis '25 and Cricket Beard '25 were able to connect with Katie Corr '25 in the circle for her first goal of the season. Williston took advantage of the celebration and regrouping and quickly scored their third goal of the match. Despite falling 3-1, the Martlets had many shining moments. Chase Hager '26 showed consistent hustle and covered the entire field offensively and defensively. Marin Benoit '26 was a serious threat offensively and came close to scoring a few times. As a whole, the team has shown incredible growth. We will travel to Rumsey Hall on Wednesday to take on the Blue Dogs.
