"Westminster School seeks curious and engaged students who want to grow and learn in a challenging and supportive environment. Students who are motivated to become their best selves both in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of the myriad of opportunities Westminster has to offer."
“At Westminster, we aspire to an extraordinarily ambitious commitment to secondary education, a commitment to nurture the participation of our diverse school community across our entire program — from academics, to studios and labs, gyms, fields and rink, and service to our Hartford community partners. Westminster students are inspired by opportunities to make a difference in all their endeavors.”
"Through gritty trial and error, Westminster students grow into independent learners who are curious, critical thinkers. With the support of faculty, students gain the skills to understand the world around them and enrich their communities at school and beyond."
"The visual and performing arts program at Westminster weaves the community together and nurtures the spirit of the Westminster campus. The arts at Westminster inspire students of all levels of experience from the very beginner to the advanced artist to practice the freedom of creative self-expression. Professional teachers guide students to work through the creative process from inception to the presentation, building a lifelong respect and appreciation for the arts."
Kerry Kendall Head of Visual and Performing Arts Department
"Athletic success at Westminster is measured not only by wins and losses, but through the bonds created between teammates and coaches, individual and team improvement, and personal growth. When students learn how to be competitors and how to cooperate with one another, they are better prepared to be citizens of the global world."
“Driven by a desire to serve young people and conscious of the opportunities for private schools to support a public purpose, Westminster School’s mission statement concludes with the call ‘to commit to a life of service beyond self.’ Westminster’s Hartford Partnership programs aim to deliver on that mission while making a direct impact on people and programs in Hartford.”
Patrick Owens Executive Director, Horizons at Westminster & Hartford Partnerships
“Involvement will be the key to your success at Westminster School. Get involved with the arts, try a sport you've never played, start your own club, run for student council. You will get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. Do these things early in your life — keep seeking more opportunities for growth.”
This Saturday, the Martlets played against the Wyverns of Kingswood Oxford. It was a picture-perfect fall day for parent’s weekend, and the Girls' Varsity Soccer team added to the positive energy around campus today. Starting off strong, the Martlets were quick in their attack and played each other’s feet early and often. Within 12 minutes into the match, Mia Fluckiger ‘26 played a wonderful through ball to Haley Cramer ‘24. Cramer took a shot on net which was bobbled by the keeper, and finished one-touch by Catherine Graves ‘24. Less than two minutes later, Jillian Gregorski ‘24 won the ball, dribbled up the field by four Kingswood Oxford players - including the keeper - and scored the second goal of the game. With 21 minutes on the clock, Blessing Kieh ‘24 found Cramer outside the 18. Cramer received the ball, took a touch, and placed a long driven ball into the far left post for the third goal. A minute after, Lauren Neuman ‘25 played a one-touch ball over the backline to Kieh who received it, dribbled into the 18, and placed the ball into the back of the Wyvern net. Later in the first half, Graves found Cramer outside the box. Cramer took a touch, beat a defender 1v1, and finished the ball in the upper right 90. The last goal of the first half came from Kieh. After winning the ball, Amber Caruso ‘23 played a great ball into the box for Kieh who finished it one-touch into the back of the net. In the second half, Elysse Cumberland ‘24 won the ball from a Wyvern defender, dribbled, and scored the seventh goal. Despite being down, Kingswood Oxford did not give up and fought hard in the second half. With 30 minutes left in the match, the Wyverns scored. The score remained 7-1 up until the final whistle. With this win, the Martlets are 10-2 on the season. The team looks forward to a restful long weekend before their last few regular season games. Westminster’s next game will be on Saturday, October 29th, at Canterbury. The game will be played at 2:30 PM. Go Martlets!
