Martlets Shutout K-O

A full team effort against Kingswood Oxford gave Westminster their 10th win of the season heading into the fall long weekend. The Martlets started strong and never looked back, scoring seven goals from six different players. Mckenzie Bloom ’23 led the way with two goals and an assist. Olivia Emerson ’24, Allysen Whitehead ’25, Hadley Crowther ’25, Talia Ondy ’25, and Taylor Horgan ’24 all found the back of the cage for the Martlets. Horgan’s was the first of her Westminster career off of a beautiful shot from the top of the circle. Amelia Molin ’23 and Olivia Fernandez ’23 each had two assists while Emerson and Dylan Bloom ’23 added assists as well. The Martlets displayed fantastic ball movement throughout the game and due to a short bench, several players stepped up and played new positions. Ava Lynch ’23 did a wonderful job on the forward line and Emma Budke ’23 played stellar defense in the backfield and as a midfielder. India Campbell ’24 and Hannah Maltby ’26 teamed up in the cage to earn the shutout for Westminster. The team will have a well-deserved break from campus for the next few days before returning on Tuesday to prepare for two road trips to Greenwich next week to take on Sacred Heart and Greenwich Academy.
