"Westminster School seeks curious and engaged students who want to grow and learn in a challenging and supportive environment. Students who are motivated to become their best selves both in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of the myriad of opportunities Westminster has to offer."
“At Westminster, we aspire to an extraordinarily ambitious commitment to secondary education, a commitment to nurture the participation of our diverse school community across our entire program — from academics, to studios and labs, gyms, fields and rink, and service to our Hartford community partners. Westminster students are inspired by opportunities to make a difference in all their endeavors.”
"Through gritty trial and error, Westminster students grow into independent learners who are curious, critical thinkers. With the support of faculty, students gain the skills to understand the world around them and enrich their communities at school and beyond."
"The visual and performing arts program at Westminster weaves the community together and nurtures the spirit of the Westminster campus. The arts at Westminster inspire students of all levels of experience from the very beginner to the advanced artist to practice the freedom of creative self-expression. Professional teachers guide students to work through the creative process from inception to the presentation, building a lifelong respect and appreciation for the arts."
Kerry Kendall Head of Visual and Performing Arts Department
"Athletic success at Westminster is measured not only by wins and losses, but through the bonds created between teammates and coaches, individual and team improvement, and personal growth. When students learn how to be competitors and how to cooperate with one another, they are better prepared to be citizens of the global world."
“Driven by a desire to serve young people and conscious of the opportunities for private schools to support a public purpose, Westminster School’s mission statement concludes with the call ‘to commit to a life of service beyond self.’ Westminster’s Hartford Partnership programs aim to deliver on that mission while making a direct impact on people and programs in Hartford.”
Patrick Owens Executive Director, Horizons at Westminster & Hartford Partnerships
“Involvement will be the key to your success at Westminster School. Get involved with the arts, try a sport you've never played, start your own club, run for student council. You will get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. Do these things early in your life — keep seeking more opportunities for growth.”
The Westminster Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played against the Gators of Greenwich Academy at home this Tuesday afternoon. A game filled with action from all 23 players, the Martlets worked hard and played with a lot of energy. Nine minutes into the game, Westminster was able to get their first goal on the scoreboard thanks to Catherine Graves ‘24 who, after receiving the ball from Mia Fluckiger ‘26, took a touch into the box and drilled the ball into the low corner of the net. Shortly after, Fluckiger played another great through ball in the attacking third to Kaitlyn McQueeney ‘24. McQueeney quickly dribbled past the Greenwich defense and shot the ball in the upper 90 of the Gators’ net for the second goal of the match. After receiving the ball off of a cross from teammate Blessing Kieh ‘24 and deflection from Paige Smith ‘23, Haley Cramer ‘24 scored. Remaining composed, Cramer picked her head up, found the open corner of the net, and placed the ball for the finish. The Martlets entered the second half up 3-0, but remained gritty in their attack. Within a minute into the second half, Graves crossed a dangerous ball into the box, McQueeney tapped it, and Elysse Cumberland ‘24 was there to finish the ball one-touch into the back of the net. Cramer and McQueeney decided to team up over the next seven minutes and score an additional two goals. Both assisted by Cramer, McQueeney scored the first on a driven ball that hit the far post and went in, and the second was a one-touch finish in the top corner for her third total goal of the match. With 29 minutes left, Kieh was fouled in the Gators’ box and awarded a penalty kick. With focus and poise, Kieh placed the ball in the bottom left corner of the net. The eighth goal of the game came from Jillian Gregorski ‘24, who was assisted by Cramer. The final goal came from Gabby Haughton ‘23. After receiving the ball from across the field, Lauren Neuman ‘25 took a great first touch towards the endline, and crossed the ball to Haughton. Haughton controlled the ball out of the air, and finished it into the back of the net for her first Westminster career goal! Keepers Helen Marshall ‘25 and Elizabeth DiBlasi ‘23 also worked well with their back line and had some saves to secure the shutout. With this win, the Martlets are 9-2 on the season. The team looks forward to their next game against Kingswood Oxford this Saturday, October 22nd. The game will be played at home at 1:00 pm.
