Martlets Win on the Road

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Martlets headed to Easthampton and came away with a 3-1 win. The girls outshot the hosts 35-4, but the Williston keeper was solid, handling virtually everything that came her way. Westminster scored first off the foot of Schuyler Groves ‘26 in the fifteenth minute. Williston had a chance to equalize before the half when a full field counter led to a corner kick. What ensued was a hand ball and a penalty kick, but Meiyin Ren ‘25 came up with a huge save to preserve the lead. The hosts would break through early in the second half to tie the game, but two quick goals – another from Groves off of a feed from Alexi Haimes ‘23 and one from Haimes herself – put the game away. Shout outs today go to Westie Strawbridge ‘24 and Caroline Pokorny ‘26 in midfield and Tilly Lynch ‘25 on defense, and to Colby Smith ‘24, who was consistently dangerous on attack.
