Martlets Fall on the Road

Westminster hit the road on a beautiful fall afternoon to take on the Wildcats of Williston Northampton. Williston took control of the game from the sound of the first whistle and dominated the possession in the first quarter. The Martlets struggled to match Williston’s pace and found themselves down 2-0 just minutes into the contest. Westminster regrouped at the end of the quarter and set out to play more composed and confident. The second quarter saw more of an even contest between the two teams, but Williston struck again early in the third quarter to bring the score to 3-0. Westminster did not give up and dominated the final 15 minutes of play, however Williston’s goalie came up big for them and stopped all Martlet attempts to put one on the scoreboard. Olivia Gordon ‘24 and Dylan Bloom ‘23 showed incredible efforts fighting until the end, however the team did not have enough today to match Williston’s level of play. The Martlets will regroup after going 1-1-1 this week and will look to prepare for a big matchup against Deerfield on Hovey Field next Wednesday.
