Martlets Draw with K-O

The Westminster boys earned a hard fought draw against a good KO side. Grinding contests are becoming the norm for the team, and they emerged for the second half a goal down but with a determined energy which was rewarded early in the half. Daniel Olaosebikan ‘26 is enjoying a good run of form in front of the goal and added his third in three games. It was a scrappy ball across the six yard box, which had evaded several pairs of legs, Westminster and KO alike, only to finally reach Daniel who was sharp on the ball and passed the ball into the goal. This was no less than the team deserved after a much better second half performance. Will McCarthy ‘25 enjoyed his best game of the season, rarely letting his energy levels drop and causing his opposite number a great deal of trouble. Will kept trying to make things happen, and he showed resilience to remain engaged even when his efforts were in vain. Finn Cathey ‘26 displayed an uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time. If he continues to improve his technical ability then he will prove a useful member of the squad later in the season. Max Williams ‘25 put in a steady performance in defense. This is not Max’s usual position, but he made a number of important challenges and was supremely calm under pressure. The JV Boys welcome Deerfield on Wednesday.
