Martlets Fall on the Road

We traveled to Deerfield and faced a skilled, competitive, disciplined team. In many ways, we played our best game of the year: we were competitive, unselfish, and tough. Deerfield built a 2-0 halftime lead and did keep about ⅔ of the action in our end of the field for the entirety of the game. The offense, led by Jack Fichthorn ‘26 and Tyler Ungerman ‘26, did have some good opportunities, especially in the second half. Evan Francis ‘26 and Liam Murray ‘26 played especially well on the back line while midfielders Teddy Russell ‘26 and Carter Styspeck ‘26 performed well at both ends of the field. Cole Hadden ‘26 also had his best all-around game of the year. The score was a disappointment today, but our effort and attitude were not, and we came away with a sense of accomplishment and a good idea of what we have to do in practice to get ready for Wednesday’s game against Avon.
