Martlets Fall on the Road

The Martlets made the short trip over to Windsor this past Saturday to battle against the Pelicans of Loomis. Both teams came out strong and ready to play. Westminster took some time early on to adjust to the Pelican’s formation and their gritty attack. Loomis was able to get an early goal in the midst of the Martlet’s organization. Despite being down early on, the Martlets knew there was plenty of time left on the clock to fight their way back into the game. After regrouping, Westminster had some wonderful moments of play as they looked to play quickly and with one- and two-touches. In the second half, the Martlets had a few close scoring opportunities, but were unlucky in their finishes. Until the final whistle, the team worked extremely hard and never once gave up. Despite the defeat, it was a great game between two solid teams. Of particular note, Goalie Elizabeth DiBlasi ‘23 had some incredible moments and diving saves throughout the game. The team appreciates all of the support they received from their fellow Martlets who made the trip to cheer them on under the lights. Westminster is now 5-2 on the season. They look forward to getting back on the pitch this Monday, October 10th, against Ethel Walker. The game will be held away at 4:30 PM.
