Martlets Fall to Suffield

For the team’s first game of the season they matched up against Suffield’s Junior Varsity players. For most of the first half, the team played very sharp, looking for opportunities to pass through and control the field. Lucy Morton ‘26 and Luna Yang ‘26 played very well in their first game at midfield and Emily Fonner ‘26 had 5 saves in goal. In the second half the team wore down a little and couldn’t keep up the pressure on the Suffield side of the field. One highlight was a set of controlled passes from one end of the field to the other with a finishing pass from Sarah Rocchio’24 to Chandler Green ‘23, who put it into the net for Westminster’s only goal. The team is not at full strength thanks to the Covid outbreak, but hopes to get healthy again within the week.
