Martlets Roll in Season Opener

The girls played a great game to open their season, earning a 3-0 win against visiting Northfield Mount Hermon. The Martlets’ passing game was sharp, leading to consistent, deep penetration of the Hoggers’ defensive end. Although they peppered the goal right from the start (40 shots taken on the day), it wasn’t until the 21st minute that the girls got on the board, courtesy of a nice goal by Westie Strawbridge ‘24. Riley Vincent ‘23 doubled the lead ten minutes later, taking advantage of a bizarre drop ball and burying a shot from just outside of the box. Caroline Pokorny ‘26 closed out the scoring midway through the second half with a beautiful long-range shot that curled into the upper 90. Fellow Third Formers Schuyler Groves, Parker Perillo and Lexi Willis joined Pokorny in making nice contributions in their first games as Martlets. Meiyin Ren ‘24 and Lily Raskind ‘24 split time in goal to earn the shutout.
