Martlets Fall to Ethel Walker

The final score doesn’t suggest it, but we played hard today, and we played pretty well. Ethel Walker is a strong, well-coached, playoff-bound team that played relentless defense against us, and though we got off to a slow start, we made some nice adjustments as the game went along. Lauren Neuman ‘25, making her first career start at point guard, showed increasing poise and better decision-making. Catherine Graves ‘24 scored a season-high coming off the bench, and Mari Camara ‘23 had her best all-around game. Tri-captains Isabella Tawney and Samantha de Kanter were especially effective, with de Kanter playing excellent help defense playing sound offensively both with and without the ball, and Tawney grabbing a ton of rebounds and getting to the free throw line 10 times. It says a lot that eight girls made their way into the scoring column and that we were running hard and diving for loose balls even in the fourth quarter.
