Martlets Draw with AOF

The Martlets finished their three game series with Avon Old Farms in a tie, finishing at 1-0-2 against the crosstown rival. Ben Swift ‘25 has been the heart and soul of the team all season, but his performance was especially impressive on this day, playing all seventy minutes, scoring both goals and creating several other chances with his speed, conditioning and toughness. Julius Galante ‘25 and Max Hausmann ‘25 worked hard in practice all week and earned starting spots in the midfield, emblematic of the way the whole squad has continued to improve every week. The Martlets scored the first goal and the Winged Beavers tied it up before halftime. Swift scored his second goal about midway through the second half before Avon found the back of the net with just under five minutes left in the game. Westminster pushed hard until the end, just missing on a couple of scoring chances. The 4ths team left feeling proud of their effort, toughness and great sportsmanship and is looking forward to Saturday’s final home game against Suffield in front of a big Parents’ Weekend.
