Martlets Open Season with a Win

Girls JV Soccer got off to a good start to the season with a 2-0 win against NMH. Despite a number of nagging injuries, the girls put forth an incredible team effort. The first goal was scored early win the first half by senior captain Molly Rubin, who was well-positioned at the top of the penalty box, passing defenders as she pushed the ball by the goalie into the net. The heat was oppressive, but the girls’ spirit never flagged. Their passing was strong and their defense was spot on. Determined to solidify their lead, the girls peppered NMH’s goal, but hoggers goalie held them off. Then with 2 minutes left in the second half, Colby Smith ’24 made her first Westminster career goal with a beautiful assist from Reily Vincent ‘24. Every team member played an outstanding game. Girls JV Soccer looks forward to their next game away at Deerfield on Wednesday.
