Girls Endure Narrow Second-Round Loss

In the second round of the High School Nationals, the girls came within a whisker of reaching the Consolation Semi-Finals. The girls dominated at the bottom of the ladder, winning 3-0 at Nos. 5-7 (Clara Ekholm '20, Lauren Way '20 and Eve Cathcart '20, respectively). GF had the upper hand at Nos. 1, 3 and 4, winning those matches in three. The outcome ultimately turned on the No. 2 match, in which Kaylee Hunt '20 stormed back from a 0-2 deficit to set up a seesaw fifth game, only to come up short when a boast went into the nick for an 11-9 final-game margin. If the Nationals live up to their reputation, the girls can look forward to more tight matches in the final two rounds of the tournament.
