A Close Match

Every year the Martlets and the Pelicans have entertaining matches, and usually the matches are very close. This one was no exception, but in the end the Black and Gold just couldn't win enough of the key points, losing to Loomis Chaffee 3-6. Zach Eckerson '21 had a very satisfying victory at No. 2, rebounding from a 6-11 loss in the first game to win the next three games 8, 8, 4. At No. 6, Ian Lee '21 controlled the T throughout the match, winning 6, 6, 6. And Quoc Anh Truong '20 won a very entertaining five-game match at No. 5. After going up 2-0 in the match, Truong lost the third and fourth games. Both players were exhausted going into the final game, and both played hard and well, but Truong prevailed 11-7. The Martlets have one remaining match, away against always formidable Taft next Wednesday.
