A Respectable Loss

Westminster started slowly but then bounced back and had it as close as 16-18 with 2:38 minutes left in the second quarter. Westminster never got closer, though. A late run found the team down 24-18 at the half, and a 9-0 run in the first five minutes found the Martlets down by 15. Taft eventually expanded its lead to 21, but Westminster chipped away in the final minutes to make the score more respectable. Co-captain Bella Tawney ’22 led the team in scoring and rebounding while co-captain Bethany Winters ’20 added nine fourth-quarter points. Mather Thompson ’23 scored her first basket of the season, a three-pointer from the corner, on a nice drive-and-dish from Margaret Kennedy ‘22.
