Students Perform in Northern Region Music Festival

Three Westminster students participated in the Northern Region Music Festival sponsored by the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Jan. 17-18 at New Britain High School.

Jessie Kwon ’21 and Tremaine Dawson ’21 sang in the choir, and Sung Min Cho ’22 played the cello in the orchestra. They were selected to perform in the festival following auditions in early November at Avon High School.

During the festival’s concert, in which about 150 students participated, the choir performed five selections and the orchestra performed three pieces. Jessie, Tremaine and Sung Min rehearsed before and during the festival.

In early February, the three students will audition at North Haven High School for the All-State Festival to be held in April.

David Chrzanowski, head of Westminster’s Visual and Performing Arts Department, who accompanies the students to their auditions and the festivals for which they are selected to perform, said the Northern Region Music Festival was a wonderful experience for the students.
