Close Match Against Winged Beavers

The much-improved Martlets traveled to Avon for their second road contest of the season. After the first round, the hosts held a slim 4-3 lead, as Jonah Prentiss '22, Grand Tantichot '22 and Oliver Olson '23 each won their respective matches in four games. In the second round, Alex Shao '22 won convincingly in three straight, while Matthew Westlake '22 and Oliver Fenner '22 went the full five games to secure their wins. Westlake got off to a quick start, winning the first two games, only to see his opponent rally back to take the next two. Meanwhile, Fenner found himself down 2-1 after losing a marathon second game 16-14, but settled down to take the final two games 11-6 and 11-3. At the top of the ladder, Jay Henry '23 and Cooper Organ '21 both lost in four games, but battled hard down to the final point.
