Strong Finish

The Martlets logged one in the win column against Choate in Wallingford Wednesday. After being snake-bitten at NMH last Friday, Westminster hoped to gather some momentum and put a few in the net. Westminster would again outshoot its opponent 38-14, but this time there was enough traffic in front and improved shot placement to put a few into the twine. The game didn’t start out very well, unfortunately, and the Martlets found themselves behind 2-0 and then 3-2 before the first frame concluded. Loose on the defensive end, and feeling a little slow, the first period was not Westminster's finest. Vic Barakett '22 and Brennan Horn '21 each found the net in the first to get things moving. The second period was all Westminster with Wyatt Pastor '20 netting two off great plays from Jake Monroe '20 and Daniel Judge '22. Justin Louette-Isaac '21 and Ryan Pineault '20 would round out the four-goal second period sending Westminster into the locker room ahead 6-3. The third was not quite as prosperous for Westminster, however, the team was able to limit Choate's opportunities down the stretch and close out a win. There was much to like about this game, and some work to do before facing Brunswick Saturday.
