"Westminster School seeks curious and engaged students who want to grow and learn in a challenging and supportive environment. Students who are motivated to become their best selves both in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of the myriad of opportunities Westminster has to offer."
“At Westminster, we aspire to an extraordinarily ambitious commitment to secondary education, a commitment to nurture the participation of our diverse school community across our entire program — from academics, to studios and labs, gyms, fields and rink, and service to our Hartford community partners. Westminster students are inspired by opportunities to make a difference in all their endeavors.”
"Through gritty trial and error, Westminster students grow into independent learners who are curious, critical thinkers. With the support of faculty, students gain the skills to understand the world around them and enrich their communities at school and beyond."
"The visual and performing arts program at Westminster weaves the community together and nurtures the spirit of the Westminster campus. The arts at Westminster inspire students of all levels of experience from the very beginner to the advanced artist to practice the freedom of creative self-expression. Professional teachers guide students to work through the creative process from inception to the presentation, building a lifelong respect and appreciation for the arts."
Kerry Kendall Head of Visual and Performing Arts Department
"Athletic success at Westminster is measured not only by wins and losses, but through the bonds created between teammates and coaches, individual and team improvement, and personal growth. When students learn how to be competitors and how to cooperate with one another, they are better prepared to be citizens of the global world."
“Driven by a desire to serve young people and conscious of the opportunities for private schools to support a public purpose, Westminster School’s mission statement concludes with the call ‘to commit to a life of service beyond self.’ Westminster’s Hartford Partnership programs aim to deliver on that mission while making a direct impact on people and programs in Hartford.”
Patrick Owens Executive Director, Horizons at Westminster & Hartford Partnerships
“Involvement will be the key to your success at Westminster School. Get involved with the arts, try a sport you've never played, start your own club, run for student council. You will get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. Do these things early in your life — keep seeking more opportunities for growth.”
Nov. 13: Field Hockey - First Girls’ 1 vs. Deerfield Academy 0
Westminster, after winning the fourth seed in the NEPSAC A Class Tournament, hosted Deerfield (fifth seed). Despite winning the regular-season game 4 to 1, Westminster was not complacent and prepared as hard as possible for this match. The Martlets started very well, showing great energy and focus and winning seven corners in the first half. After 17 minutes, the Martlets scored and then proceeded to push hard with most of the momentum. After halftime, Deerfield really pushed, holding Westminster to only four corners and setting up six corners of its own. This displayed the shift in the momentum, and Westminster did superbly in defense and in goal to keep the score at 1-0 for the win. Jenny Guider '20 had a nice goal-line save, and KK Newton '20 soaked up seven of her eight saves in the second half. It really was a game of two halves. Westminster moves on to play Convent of the Sacred Heart (away) Saturday, Nov. 16, in the semifinal of the NEPSAC A Class Tournament.
Nov. 16: Field Hockey - First Girls’ 1 vs. Convent of The Sacred Heart 3
The Martlets started very well, dominating the first few minutes of the game. A slight change in formation kept Sacred Heart under wraps, but the team scored after 20 minutes to go into halftime up by one goal. Westminster played hard and fought back well before conceding a second 10 minutes into the second half. Sacred Heart went up by three with 15 minutes left to play, but Westminster came back to make the final score 3 to 1. This concludes Westminster's fantastic season. The Martlets have a final record of 13 and 3 across all games, won the Founders League and also took the WNEPSFHA title, which includes all teams to the South and West of Deerfield Academy (DA included).

Nov. 13: Soccer - First Boys’ 2 vs. South Kent School 7
Westminster was excited to be in the New England Playoffs for the first time in 10 years. The Martlets would go on the road as the eighth seed to face nationally ranked South Kent School on a frigid fall day. Even though the score was lopsided, the visitors would work hard throughout the entire game. A tough score to finish the year, however, this team has done so much in these last three months. Westminster started out in the U.K. for the first preseason trip overseas in team history, had a strong winning season and made its way into the New England Playoffs. All off the players should be proud of their efforts this fall.
