Martlets Surge, Then Falter in Second Half

On a cold and blustery afternoon, the Martlets started their week taking on the Cougars of Cardigan Mountain school. After a first half highlighted by stellar defense from midfielder Jordy Nelson ‘21 and close defensemen Will Mell ‘21 and Ben Michaud ‘22, the Martlets discipline faltered. In a back and forth effort, the Martlets gave up two critical man-down goals late in the final quarter to fall to CMS. Despite this, Teddy Schellbach ‘20 led scoring with his third hat trick of the season, supported by Charlie Flam ‘20, Walker Jones ‘20 and Matthew Westlake ‘22. Ben Ferrell ‘21 was once again a rock in net, making a few critical saves en route to get another 15-save game. The Martlets will look forward to putting together complete games against Salisbury on Wednesday and Trinity-Pawing on Saturday.
