Martlets Battle, Fall Short Against Taft

On a stunning Saturday afternoon in Simsbury, the Martlets looked to return to form against the Rhinos of Taft. Jordy Nelson '21 scored 10 seconds in to get the game going, and both teams began to find their offensive forms. Over the course of the afternoon, no team ever led by more than three goals at any point. It was a back-and-forth game with many opportunities. By the end, Nelson had put in another goal, along with Grant Pietri '22, Walker Jones '20, Jack Roberts '20, Quinn Plumb '21, Charlie Flam '20 and Teddy Schellbach also had a hat trick. The Martlets were shorthanded once again due to quite a few illnesses, but Ben Ferrell '21 was once again phenomenal in net. Ferrell provided his second 15-plus save game in a row to keep the Martlets in it until the end. After failing to convert a few last-minute chances, the Martlets graciously conceded defeat. They look to continue to work hard in this condensed part of the season against Cardigan Mountain School Monday afternoon.
