Martlets Win Opener Against Avon

Westminster Thirds opened its season April 12 against Avon Old Farms. The Martlets went up early and were able to hold Avon at arm's length the rest of the way, as the boys possessed the ball well and came up with seemingly every ground ball. On the defensive end, Beck Winsor '21, Justin Parson '20 and Cooper Organ '21 held down the fort with high energy throughout the game that made it difficult for the Avon offense to sustain much of anything. Notable leadership efforts on the offensive end go to Alex Tonioni '22, Hunter Hoogkamp '21, Nate Swift '19 and Tarek Mourad '19. However, the game ball could've been awarded to none other than Juan Jo Garibay '20, who made his first start in net and did more than hold his own.

Goals:
Max Brownback '21: 2
Hoogkamp: 2
Swift: 2
Tonioni: 1
Linc Dines '21: 1
Nate Londal '19: 1
