Martlets Fall to Talented Sacred Heart

The Martlets of First Girls’ Lacrosse traveled to Greenwich to take on a very talented Sacred Heart squad. The home team got on the board first with two goals in the first two minutes, but Westminster answered with goals by midfielders Georgia Nolan ‘20 and Sam DeLeo ‘21. Sacred Heart then went on a seven-goal run thanks to its strong transitions and fast breaks down the middle of the Martlet defensive end. Westminster did not let down and put two more in the back of the home team’s net to lessen the deficit to five. Unfortunately, halftime put a pause on their momentum and the home team picked it back up and went on another five-goal run. Westminster worked hard on the draws and in causing turnovers in the defensive end, but it was just not quite enough to stop the speed of Sacred Heart. Shannon Keefe ‘19, Jill Parsons ‘19, Blake Cote ‘19 and DeLeo picked up one goal and Nolan put two in the back of the net. Westminster looks forward to next game as the Martlets get back on the road Saturday to take on Pomfret.
