Best Offensive Game

Westminster played perhaps its best offensive basketball of the season in the first half, but porous defense and poor communication allowed Pomfret to score 41 first-half points and establish a 15-point halftime lead. The pace of the game slowed down significantly in the second half, but the team still struggled somewhat on defense, despite a solid overall effort by everyone. Bella Tawney '22 led the way with 12 points (all in the first half) and 15 rebounds, while Bethany Winters '20 added nine. Ashlyn Clapprood '22 played perhaps her most aggressive and productive game of the year, and Ella Varano '21 grabbed a career-high five rebounds.

After the game, the team bid farewell to its departing Sixth Formers: Tori Kline and captain Alayna Tawney. Westminster wishes Kline a full and speedy recovery from her injuries and appreciates her efforts in support of the team this year. Alayna Tawney, a two-year member of the squad, has been a great leader, hard worker and earnest player. Westminster will miss her guidance, organization, seriousness of purpose and of course her distinctive and constant laugh.

Thanks to the players for their good attitudes and hard work this year, to the parents for their constant and unwavering support, to Ms. Lauren Fry in the training room, Mr. Jason Hyland in the equipment room, to Mrs. Nancy Spencer for timing so many of our home game, to Mrs. Kelly Wosleger for scheduling our referees and transportation, and to coach Ms. Brady Cooper for doing everything that was asked of her and more.
