Winged Martlets, Crouching Beavers

A tough first half greeted the Martlets of Westminster Thirds Basketball to their second game against Avon Old Farms' fierce winged beavers. Despite vigorous offensive play by Baker "Birthday Suit" Morton '22, the Martlets struggled early on to find their feet and quickly found themselves scrambling to recover. The call was answered as Tunji "Toy Story" Osho-Williams '21 inspired the team with both reference and defensive play, springing the boys into action as the entered halftime down 7-22. The second half began with a bang as Ben "Fungus Amongus" Mihailovich '22 and Jack "Chili for Lunch" Luppino '21 locked off AOF's primary shooter, seeking out a run to victory. Sam "Juicebox" Obeng '22 found himself draining shots left and right, and the Martlets brought the game within mere points of AOF, trading blows back and forth as the time on the clock expired. At the end of the game, a series of free throws and fast breaks determined the score, but it was clear that the Martlets had taken flight in the second half. They boys look strong heading into their second tilt against Loomis this Friday, planning to meet their opponents with grit, grace, and potentially Stranger Things references.
