A Tight Match

In a very tight match, the Martlets defeated the Pelicans 5-2. How tight was it? Well, four of the seven matches went to five games while the other three were decided in four games. Peter Miller '22 at No. 1 and Mac Dye '20 at No. 3 both lost 9-11 games in the fifth game of their matches. At No. 2 Scott Lee' 20 lost his first game 8-11 and then swept his match at 4, 5 and 7. Travis Paulsen '20 fought off two match balls in the fourth game of his match before closing out the match at 10 and 5 at No. 4. Quoc Anh Truong '20 was all over the court in his four-game victory at No. 5. At No. 6, Ian Lee '21 won a marathon match 12, (5), 6, (12), 9, while Zach Eckerson '21 shook off a bad call that had him at 1-1 instead of 2-0 to play determined squash in his third and fourth games, winning those by scores of 11-7 and 11-8. Paulsen and Lee share the nail for their gritty five-game wins.
