A Solid Win

The Martlets defeated a game but overmatched squad from Trinity Pawling 9-0 on a cold Saturday afternoon on Williams Hill to move to 4-3 on the season. Up and down the ladder, the boys played efficient squash, using good serves and returns, balls to length, and crosscourt winners to control the points. The Black and Gold won every match in straight games except for the No. 4 match where Travis Paulsen '20 lost the first game 9-11 before taking command of the match and winning 11-5, 11-1 and 11-0. The "nail" for this match is a dual award given to Peter Miller '22 who surrendered only five total points in his match at No. 1 and Ian Lee '21 who gave up only three total points in his victory at No. 8. The schedule becomes very challenging for the Martlets now as they face traditional powerhouses Hotchkiss and Deerfield in away contests next week.
