A Close One

Westminster got off to a slow start and fell behind, then fought to tie the game up at 20 late in the half before a Bearcats run left us behind 28-21 at halftime. The team found its offensive stride in the second half and moved the ball well and shot much better, and ultimately led 49-45 with about three minutes left in the game. Several turnovers, many of them unforced, led to many easy baskets for the home team, and Westminster ultimately fell short despite a great overall effort. Laura Velez '20 tallied her career high in points for the second time in three games and added eight crucial rebounds from the guard spot. Bella Tawney '22 had 14 points and 14 rebounds; Bethany Winters '20 continued her red-hot shooting and added 12.
