Westminster Beats Berkshire in Final Game of Season

The Martlets ended the 2018 spring season with an exciting 10-9 win over the Berkshire Bears in Sheffield, Mass. on May 23, rounding out what was a fantastic, strong finish these last few weeks. Berkshire got on the board first, just 33 seconds in, but the Martlets responded, scoring two of their own, taking a brief lead. The two teams appeared to be evenly matched throughout the first half with the statistics for draw controls, turnovers and caused turnovers similar for each squad. When the teams broke for the half, Westminster trailed 4-5. The Martlets then turned it on, scoring off set plays and draw and dumps. Berkshire has moments of proving it could come back, but with great saves in the final minutes by goalie Ellie Bailey ‘21, Westminster was able to maintain possession and stifle a Berkshire comeback threat. Westminster thanks the First Girls’ team and the Sixth Formers who led the team on and off the field. Great season, Martlets!
