Sixth Formers Perform Community Service

Members of the Sixth Form and eight faculty members spent the morning May 21 performing community service at a number of locations in Simsbury and Bloomfield. They visited Simsbury Community Farm, where they prepped garden beds, planted vegetables, raked, mulched and cared for animals; visited Eno Memorial Hall, where they prepared lunch for senior citizens; visited Governor’s House, where they played board games with residents; visited Simsbury Historical Society, where they moved furniture and artifacts, painted buildings and cleaned up garden beds; visited Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, where they helped inventory and pick up after an open house; and they collected trash along the Simsbury bike path.

“Everyone worked together and completed projects that would have taken some of the nonprofit organizations days or weeks to finish,” said Kelly Curtis, director of community service.  “We had a gorgeous day and a lot of fantastic attitudes.  I’m really going to miss working with the Class of 2018.”
