About WISE

The WISE program (Westminster Interactive Summer Experience) kicks off its fifth summer with an exciting array of online courses for middle and high school students. From the study of the Vietnam War, to literature and algebra, from Spanish and chemistry, to neuroscience and computer science, the courses are designed to prepare students for the coming school year as well as stimulate their curiosity and develop study skills which will help them in all their future academic pursuits.
For the summer of 2018, Westminster faculty will offer a slate of tutorial-style, non-credit courses. These courses will be offered during two separate two-week sessions: June 18 - June 29 and July 16 - July 27. Students will engage directly with faculty each day for an hour and will receive feedback on their independent work, with an overarching goal of improving their critical reading, writing, and verbal skills. In many instances, the courses can provide a preview of the coming year or prepare for a specific standardized test or essay.
Class meetings take place online. The daily online meeting times will have flexibility, and the class teachers may provide a range of meeting times to help with planning purposes.
The complete course descriptions and download of the 2018 courses booklet will be posted soon. Tuition is $900 per course. Those students who register before May 15th will receive a discounted tuition of $800. Financial aid may be available for current Westminster students. Registration for each course will remain open until a week before the session begins, and the enrollment for a course is capped at eight students to maintain the tutorial experience.
