Martlets Fall on the Road

The Splash Sisters were excited to get back into action for the 22-23 season, starting off with a tough away game against Deerfield. Avauni Anderson ‘25 led the Marlets with the first basket of the game and ended up as our high scorer on the day with 9 points. Four other players also got on the scoresheet–lots of props to Janet Kiburi ‘26, Annabel Thompson ‘23, Reese Hutchen ‘23 and Behnoosh Behtar ‘25 for finding the basket in a variety of ways and earning second chance opportunities after some near misses. There were also lots of highlights on the defensive end. Blessing Kieh ‘24 hasn’t missed a step since last season, coming up with multiple steals, blocks, and hustle plays. She’ll be a menace to deal with for our remaining opponents. Emma Isakoff ‘25 also showed great hustle and heart in her time on the floor. Finally, shoutout to many JV basketball rookies, including Katlin Koch ‘24, Anaya Huguley ‘26, Sabrina Yang ‘26 and Elise Park ‘26 for their effort and willingness to go against seasoned players on the Deerfield Squad. It’s not an easy thing to do, and everyone showed great improvement from the first whistle to the last buzzer. The team will hopefully get some players back from the IR and the Health Center for our next contest on Saturday at Wilbraham.
