Martlets Shutout Canterbury

An early goal from Finn Williams ‘26 set the tone for the afternoon and a composed Westy win. Daniel Olaosebikan ’26 ended his brief dry spell with two more goals and tested the keeper regularly with a typically energetic display. Daniel makes any defender work to beat him, and creates so many opportunities for himself through sheer force of will. He is clinical in front of goal, making this a potent pairing of efficiency and effort. Jake Andreski ‘25 enjoyed a great half week of practice and found a new level in his game today. His industry has added a degree of quality which resulted in an effective performance. Jake was quick to support his team mates, and unselfish in making the runs himself. Eminently coachable, Jake has come a long way since early September and has matured greatly in his attitude. The backline of Max Williams ‘25, Auggie Barret ‘24, and Daniel Edwards ‘24 dealt with an unpredictable pitch all afternoon. There were a few heart in mouth moments, but the three of them supported each other and restricted Canterbury to speculative shots from distance. Daniel is so calm under pressure, effortlessly gliding out of tackles with the ball. Auggie’s energy for recovery runs is endless and he never backs out of a sprint. Max will not be beaten physically, and is content to let his opponent do all the talking. Above all this was a great team effort and the boys deserved this good win.
