Martlets Tie AOF

The JV Boys were unlucky not to take the win this afternoon, after going ahead twice through good work from Ben Swift ‘25 and Jin Lee ‘24. Alex Wood ‘25 saved one penalty but was left helpless for another AOF penalty in the second half. Auggie Barret ‘24 continues to grow in confidence and marshaled his backline well. Auggie’s determination gives him an extra gear in any foot race, and so there are few sprinters he will lose to. Finn Williams ‘26 raises his level to the occasion each time, and a derby against the local rivals is the perfect arena for him. Finn connects the different areas of the field with his range of passing and keen desire to move the ball forward. He is fearless in every situation, whether surging forward or blocking a ferocious shot. The Westminster boys were energized for this game and fought hard from the first whistle. Avon struggled to handle the intensity of the Westminster play, but luck was not on Westminster’s side and the boys recognized this as an opportunity missed.
