Win Over the Saints

On the road again to New Milford, Conn. this time, Westminster defeated Canterbury 6-3. The first and second periods were played consistently in all three zones by the Martlets, generating quality scoring chances and preventing any meaningful opportunities from the Saints. Westminster doubled up on its opponent in shots during the first two periods and were able to keep Canterbury in its defensive zone. The first period ended 1-0 Westminster, and the second 6-0 Westminster. The third period was a different story, however, and the Martlets allowed the Saints to gain some ground. Canterbury took advantage of a power play and the Martlets let off the gas a little. Canterbury scored three in the third to bring the score to 6-3, but Westminster tightened things up in the last five minutes to stop the pressure. While not the complete game they had hoped for, the Martlets head into a busy stretch having put some points on the board and gaining a little more confidence. Loomis is up next on Friday.
