Acclaimed Jazz Quintet to Perform April 5

Award-winning composer, bassist and librettist Rachiim Ausar-Sahu and his Jazz/Espirtu ensemble will perform at Westminster April 5 as part of the school’s Friday Nights at Westminster series of concerts and readings held during the academic year. Brooklyn-born Ausar-Sahu is the recipient of numerous awards and has toured around the world.

The “meet the composer” performance will feature original compositions, followed by questions and answers in this look inside the jazz arts. Besides Ausar-Sahu, on double bass, the quintet includes Brandon McCune on piano, George Gray Jr. on drums, Chief Neil Clarke on African percussion and Irwin Hall on soprano and alto saxophone.

The performance at Westminster is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in Werner Centennial Center. Ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center.
