Martlets Defeat IMS

Westminster headed to Indian Mountain School on Wednesday afternoon. After a slow start coming off the bus, the Martlets found themselves trailing 2-0 after the first quarter. 30 seconds into the second quarter Caroline Callen ‘26 opened the scoring on a feed from Chase Hager ‘26. Less than a minute later, Chase Hager ‘26 provided the tying goal on an assist from Bella Zapata ‘27. IMS scored the next two, but Chase Carter ‘26 (assisted by Piper Lundin ’26) would respond before the end of the half to cut the deficit to 4-3. Both teams would trade goals throughout the third. Piper Lundin ‘26 and Bella Zapata ‘27 each scored their first goals of the day and Westminster took a 5-4 lead. Piper Lundin ‘26 provided the next two goals for the Martlets, and IMS added two of their own, bringing the score to 7-6 after three. 25 seconds into the fourth, Piper Lundin ‘26 tallied her fourth goal of the day on an assist from Caroline Callen ‘26. IMS pulled within one, but goals from Caroline Callen ‘26 (assisted by Piper Lundin ‘26) and Bella Zapata ‘27 (assisted by Chase Carter ’26) secured the win for Westminster with a final score of 10-8. Maya Tran ‘27 was phenomenal in net with 12 saves. Westminster looks forward to hosting Ethel Walker School on Friday for Senior Day.
