Grandparents Day 2016

Nearly 200 grandparents visited Westminster Sept. 28 to spend the school day with their grandchildren. For some, it was their first time visiting campus, and for others, it was a time to return to the Hill and see what is new this academic year for their grandchildren.

After grandparents were welcomed to campus by Headmaster Bill Philip, they spent the day with their grandchildren attending classes and chapel, touring the campus and enjoying lunch in the dining hall. The day ended with many grandparents attending afternoon athletic contests.

Linda Johnson GP’20, who lives in Simsbury, was visiting her grandson Harry Stevenson ’20. “I look forward to seeing the Westminster campus since I have never been here before,” she said as they were off to a history class.

Betty and Ray McGivney GP’17, ’20, who live in Enfield, Conn., were visiting McKenna Burelle ’17 and Zachary Burelle ’20, and had left it up to the students to decided plans for class visits. “I look forward to being with our grandchildren and seeing the progress being made on campus,” said Betty. “I am interested in visiting classes and seeing how they are taught,” added Ray.

Pam Kelly GP ’19, who is from Arlington, Va., was visiting her grandson Jack Murdock ’19 and remarked, “I love going to school and wish I had the opportunity to attend a school like this.”
