Spring 2016 Awards Ceremony

Headmaster Bill Philip welcomed members of the Westminster community
to the spring term awards ceremony May 27 and congratulated members of
the Class of 2016. He also recognized the graduating class’s former form
dean, Bill Sistare, and current form dean, Grant Gritzmacher, for their
guidance and care of the students.

As he has done at prior awards ceremonies, Headmaster Philip
acknowledged a campus department for the work its staff does every day.
This time he asked campus security officers to join him onstage for an
appreciative applause.

“We enjoyed a memorable spring term in so many ways,” he continued,
before sharing achievements in the visual and performing arts, Latin
competitions, community service, chapel, student activities and the public
speaking contest. “As this glimpse of some of our community highlights
underscores, everyone on Williams Hill leads enriched and full lives,
balancing a range of responsibilities extending from the classroom to the arts
to the fields and to service, whether here on campus or in our surrounding
community.”

He also recognized five departing faculty members who have served on the
faculty for 20 years or more including Ray Gustafson, Sara Deveaux P’14,
’16, Peter Newman ’80, P’16, Joan Howard P’00, ’03 and Larry Gilman
P’78, ’80.
