First Boys' Hockey opens season with strong offense and tight defense in 4-0 win

The Martlets got off to a nice start in their 2015-2016 season opener on Friday night with a 4-0 road win over Northfield Mount Hermon. The Black and Gold played a disciplined, controlled game from the opening whistle, dominating possession with crisp passes and and good communication. Connor Lloyd '16 scored the Martlets' first goal of the season with an assist from J.P. Schuhlen '16 15 minutes into the first period. The Hoggers' goalie played outstanding throughout the game, making 40 saves and keeping Westminster out of the net in the second frame, but the Martlets iced the game in the third with three unanswered goals. Taggart Corriveau '16 netted his first of the year, assisted by Johnny McDermott '16 and Connor Lloyd '16, followed by a goal from McDermott, assisted by Corriveau and Jack Flanagan '17. Schuhlen finished the scoring line with a goal assisted by McDermott and Lloyd, and the tight defensive unit, anchored by the solid play of Stephen Gasior '16 in goal, held onto the shut-out to secure the win.
