Science Classes Visit American Museum of Natural History

Westminster’s AP Biology and Astronomy classes took a day off from classes Jan. 13 to travel to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

While at the museum, the AP Biology classes ran a biotechnology lab during which they investigated plant genomics using PCR and gel electrophoresis, topics that they had recently been discussing in their classroom. They then went on a guided investigation of exhibitions focused on biodiversity and vertebrate evolution.

The Astronomy classes began with a walkthrough of the Rose Center of Earth and Space followed by a planetarium show. For both groups of students, the experience complemented what they had been discussing in classes and gave them a memorable trip to kick off 2015.
