The Jazz Bones to Perform Nov. 14

The Jazz Bones trombone ensemble will give a performance at Westminster Nov. 14 as a part of the school’s “Friday Nights in Gund,” a series of readings, lectures and concerts held at Westminster during the academic year.

The Jazz Bones Octet was organized in 1985 as a performing group of the Western Massachusetts Trombone Association. The ensemble has arrangements written for five-part harmony. Whether they are playing a hard swing, fast jazz or a sweet ballad, they are backed by a first-class rhythm section and are a real crowd-pleaser. Their repertoire consists of swing, jazz standards, blues, rock, Latin and funk.

The ensemble’s Westminster School performance is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of Armour Academic Center. Refreshments will be served after the presentation and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center.

The Friday Nights in Gund series is made possible by generous grants from The Ensign Bickford Foundation and the Ford-Goldfarb English Department Enrichment Fund.
